9 best Better Stack alternatives in 2026, free and paid
- monitoring
- alternatives
- status-page
Pick the alternative by the part of Better Stack you use. For uptime checks and a status page, Hyperping, Instatus, UptimeRobot and Uptimepage start cheaper on their first paid plans. incident.io covers on-call and incidents in Slack, Checkly covers browser checks, and OneUptime also covers logs and traces. Uptime Kuma self-hosts for free.
Better Stack bundles uptime monitoring, status pages, on-call, logs, traces and error tracking. Its free plan is headed "Free for personal projects" and covers 10 monitors and heartbeats and one status page. Paid use starts with a responder licence at $29 a month on yearly billing, or $34 monthly, and parts are priced on top: more monitors at $21 per 50 a month, extra status pages at $12 a month, and white-labelling at $208 per page per month, all on yearly billing. If you only need one of those parts, the "Replaces" column below shows which tool covers it. Our own side-by-side is Uptimepage vs Better Stack.
| Tool | Replaces | Free-tier monitors | Check interval, free / first paid | Status page on your own domain | First paid tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Checkly | Uptime and browser checks | 10 | 2 min / 1 min | Paid status page plan, $9/mo yearly | $24/mo yearly (monitoring) |
| Hyperping | Uptime, status page, basic on-call | 20 | 5 min / 30 s | From Essentials | $24/mo billed yearly ($290/yr) |
| incident.io | Incidents, on-call, status page | None, no uptime checks | No checks | Free | $19/user/mo, $15 yearly |
| Instatus | Uptime and status page | 15 | 2 min / 30 s | From Pro | From $20/mo |
| OneUptime | Uptime, status page, on-call, logs, traces | Manual only; automated checks $1/monitor/mo | None / 1 min, metered | Not stated | From $22/user/mo |
| OpenStatus | Uptime and status page | 1 | 10 min / 1 min | From Starter | $30/mo, or $25/mo yearly |
| Uptime Kuma | Uptime and status page, self-hosted | No plan limit | You set it | Yes, on your server | Free; you pay for hosting |
| Uptimepage | Uptime and status page; on-call on Team | 20 | 3 min / 60 s | From Pro | $9/mo, or $90/yr |
| UptimeRobot | Uptime and status page | 50 | 5 min / 60 s | From Solo | €10/mo, or €9/mo yearly |
I took every figure from the vendor's own pricing page on 30 October 2026 (for Uptime Kuma, from its repository), and each one is linked in the table and again in its section. UptimeRobot prices in the visitor's local currency, so its figures are the euro prices it showed us. I build Uptimepage, one of the nine, which is why the list runs alphabetically instead of as a ranking.
Checkly
If the part of Better Stack you use is transaction monitoring, its Playwright checks billed at $1 per 100 minutes, Checkly is the specialist to compare. Checkly's browser checks are Playwright scripts you keep in your repository, and its Starter plan is $24 a month billed annually for 50 uptime monitors at 1-minute checks from 6 locations, with browser and API check allowances and email, Slack, SMS and webhook alerts. Team, at $64 a month billed annually, moves to 30-second checks from 22 locations and adds private locations. Status pages are priced separately on the same page, free with 250 subscribers or $9 a month billed annually for your own domain. The free Hobby plan has 10 uptime monitors at 2-minute checks.

Hyperping
Hyperping is the closest in shape to Better Stack's uptime side: monitoring, status pages and on-call in one product, without the log platform. The difference is how seats are priced. Better Stack charges per responder licence, while Hyperping's Essentials plan, $24 a month billed yearly ($290 a year), includes three seats, with more at $7 a month each. Essentials covers 50 monitors at 30-second checks, a status page on your own domain with 100 subscribers, alert acknowledgement and escalation, and Hyperping's MCP server. Its page's summary lists paid plans from $29 a month. The free plan is 20 monitors at 5-minute checks with one basic page and no subscribers.

incident.io
If you came to Better Stack for incident management and on-call, compare incident.io, which runs incidents from Slack or Microsoft Teams. The free Basic plan includes single-team on-call and one public status page with unlimited subscribers and a custom domain. Team is $19 a user a month, or $15 on annual billing, plus $10 a user for on-call, and on-call is also sold on its own at $20 a user. It runs no uptime checks itself, as its pricing page lists none, so you keep a monitor next to it, and the pair together replaces Better Stack's incident side.

Instatus
If the status page is the Better Stack part you value most, Instatus is worth a look. Pro, listed "from $20/mo", includes a custom domain and 5,000 subscribers, along with 50 monitors at 30-second checks, SMS alerts and 50 team members, and Instatus says it charges no per-seat fees. Better Stack includes 1,000 subscribers and charges $40 a month for each extra 1,000. The free Starter plan has 15 monitors at 2-minute checks, 200 subscribers and no custom domain.

OneUptime
OneUptime is the nearest match to Better Stack's breadth. Its cloud Free plan lists monitoring, one status page with 100 subscribers, incident management, and logs, traces and metrics, with automated monitors at $1 each per month. Growth, from $22 per user, adds unlimited status pages and subscribers and on-call rotations. The other difference is that OneUptime can be self-hosted from its GitHub repository. When we checked version 11 in July 2026 that meant running six to fourteen services with Postgres, ClickHouse and Redis, so plan for a platform rather than a container. Uptimepage vs OneUptime compares the two self-hosted.

OpenStatus
OpenStatus does uptime checks and a status page, and its source is AGPL, so you can run it yourself. Starter is $30 a month, or $25 a month on yearly billing, for 20 monitors at 1-minute checks from up to 6 of 28 regions, a status page with subscribers and a custom domain, and unlimited team members, which suits teams tired of paying per responder. White-labelling is a $300 a month add-on on Starter and Pro. The free Hobby plan is one monitor at a 10-minute interval and one page with three components.

Uptime Kuma
Uptime Kuma is free, MIT-licensed and self-hosted, with no hosted plan and so no pricing page; the cost is the server you run it on. Its latest release when we looked was 2.5.8, from 26 October 2026. When we checked version 2.4.0 in July 2026 it could check as often as every second and had 94 notification integrations, but it was single-user with one shared login, had no official REST API or Terraform provider, and its status pages offered RSS rather than email subscribers. It can take over Better Stack's uptime checks and a simple page, but nothing on the on-call or logs side. More in Uptimepage vs Uptime Kuma.

Uptimepage
Uptimepage is what I build, so read this with that in mind. It replaces Better Stack's uptime checks and status pages, and on-call on the Team plan, with flat prices instead of per-responder licences. Pro is $9 a month, or $90 a year, for 50 monitors at 60-second checks from 13 regions, two status pages on your own domain with email and webhook subscribers, five teammates and no badge. Team, $19 a month, raises that to 150 monitors at 30-second checks, 15 teammates and five pages, and adds on-call rotations, escalation policies and private status pages. Monitors, pages and alert channels can be declared in our Terraform provider or driven through an MCP server. What it does not replace: logs, traces, error tracking and RUM, and Better Stack covers more check types and heartbeats as often as every second. The free Standard plan is 20 monitors at 3-minute checks and one page on an uptimepage.dev subdomain, and the AGPL code self-hosts without plan limits.

UptimeRobot
UptimeRobot is the alternative when Better Stack's free plan is too small, or when its personal-projects label does not fit you. Its free plan has 50 monitors at 5-minute checks, against Better Stack's 10 at 3 minutes, and the page describes it as good for commercial projects too. Solo, €10 a month or €9 on yearly billing, adds 60-second checks and three status pages on your own domain. Status page subscribers and login seats start on Team, €41 a month or €35 yearly, which also brings 30-second checks and 100 monitors. It covers monitoring and pages only. We compare it with ours in Uptimepage vs UptimeRobot.

Common questions
Is Better Stack free?
Yes, with limits. Its free plan covers 10 monitors and heartbeats and one status page, with 3-minute checks, and the pricing page heads it "Free for personal projects". Paid use starts at $29 a month on yearly billing, or $34 monthly, per responder licence.
Is Better Uptime the same as Better Stack?
Broadly, yes. Better Uptime was folded into Better Stack, where it is now the Uptime product, so the alternatives here apply whichever name you searched for.
Which Better Stack alternative also covers logs?
OneUptime is the closest: its cloud plans include logs, traces and metrics next to monitoring, status pages and on-call, and it can be self-hosted. Hyperping lists logs on its paid plans as an alpha feature. The rest are built around monitoring, status pages or incidents, so plan on a separate log tool.
What is the cheapest Better Stack alternative?
Self-hosted Uptime Kuma costs nothing but the server. Hosted, a status page on your own domain costs $9 a month on Uptimepage Pro, €9 to €10 a month on UptimeRobot Solo, or $9 a month billed annually on Checkly's status page plan next to its free monitoring. Of those three, UptimeRobot Solo is the one without status page subscribers.
