Free uptime monitoring for websites and APIs

Uptimepage's free plan gives you 20 monitors for websites and APIs, with uptime checks every 3 minutes from 3 regions, SSL and domain expiry checks, Slack, email and webhook alerts, a public status page and 3 seats, for $0 with no card and no expiry. It is fine for business use. UptimeRobot gives you more free monitors and Instatus checks more often. The table below has the rest.

UptimeRobot's own pricing table marks SSL, domain expiry, DNS and heartbeat monitoring, Slack and webhook alerts, and status page subscribers as paid, and its free plan keeps logs for 3 months to our 30 days.

Better Stack heads its free plan "Free for personal projects", and Hyperping describes its own as "For personal projects and trying out Hyperping". "Not listed" and "not stated" mean the vendor's pricing page does not say.

What free website monitoring includes

You get twenty monitors, and each check counts as one, so a site with an uptime check, a TLS certificate check and a domain expiry check uses three of them. HTTP, TCP, ping and DNS checks run every 3 minutes from 3 of our 13 regions. TLS checks can run hourly and domain expiry checks every 12 hours, because those dates move slowly, and heartbeats wait for your job to call us. You also get 30 days of history, up to 20 alert channels, one public status page, three seats, and the REST API and MCP server. Of our check types, only browser login flows need a paid plan.

Why 20 monitors can beat 50

UptimeRobot's free plan has 50 monitors, the most in the table, and if a basic up-or-down check on each site is all you need, it is a good deal. Its pricing table marks SSL, domain expiry, DNS and heartbeat monitoring as paid, along with Slack and webhook alerts. All of those are free here, so a free monitor can catch a certificate about to expire or a cron job that stopped running, and tell the Slack channel your team reads.

One bad probe does not wake you

By default, a monitor counts as down only when a majority of its regions agree, so with 3 regions, 2 have to fail. If one network path has a bad minute, nobody gets paged. When the failure is real, an incident opens and your alert channels hear about it, and the incident closes by itself when the monitor recovers.

Your users hear about it too

The same checks can drive a public status page on a subdomain such as your-org.uptimepage.dev, with up to 15 components and email and webhook subscribers. UptimeRobot and Hyperping keep subscribers off their free plans. When something breaks, the page tells the people affected, so you don't have to write to each of them.

What free does not include

Checks run every 3 minutes, so an outage shorter than that can fall between them. There are no browser login flows, SMS alerts or on-call rotations, history stops at 30 days, and the status page keeps a small "Powered by Uptimepage" line and cannot use your own domain. Pro, at $9 a month, gives you 50 monitors, 60-second checks from all 13 regions and your own domain. Team, at $19, adds 30-second checks and on-call.

Or run it yourself

The code is AGPL, so you can self-host it with no plan limits and no account with us. You would run the servers and place the region agents yourself. If you don't want that work, use the hosted free plan.

FAQ

Is there a completely free uptime monitoring tool?
Yes. Uptimepage's free plan is $0 a month with no card and no expiry, for 20 monitors, with uptime checks every 3 minutes from 3 regions. UptimeRobot's free plan gives 50 monitors at 5-minute checks. Uptime Kuma is free if you run it on your own server.
How often does free monitoring check my website?
Every 3 minutes, from up to 3 regions. That finds a long outage quickly, but a shorter one can fall between checks, so anything customers pay for is worth 60-second checks on Pro at $9 a month.
Can I use free uptime monitoring for a business?
Yes. Our free plan is fine for business use, with 3 seats for your team. Not every free plan is: Better Stack heads its free plan "Free for personal projects", and Hyperping's says "For personal projects and trying out Hyperping".
Which alerts are free?
Slack, Discord, Teams, Google Chat, Mattermost, Telegram, WhatsApp, email, PagerDuty, ntfy, Pushover, Gotify and webhooks, up to 20 channels. SMS through your own gateway starts on Pro.
Does it include a status page?
Yes. One public status page with up to 15 components and email and webhook subscribers, on a subdomain such as your-org.uptimepage.dev. Your own domain starts on Pro.
What happens when I outgrow it?
Move to Pro at $9 a month for 50 monitors, 60-second checks, every region and your own domain, or Team at $19 for 150 monitors and 30-second checks. Each plan has one flat price with seats included. Or self-host the AGPL code, which has no plan limits.
